Galileo In-Orbit-Validation

Loran Technical Evaluation Report Public Site

The purpose of this site is to provide all interested parties with access to the Loran Technical Evaluation Report, which was delivered to the Department of Transportation's Position/Navigation Executive Committee in March 2004 through the efforts of a Government, Industry, and Academic Team. ksn.faa.gov

Galileo more expensive than expected

Possibly the satellite navigation program Galileo is more expensive than expected. Additionally it could be retarded. The project would be threatened, if further retarded and the member countries of the space agency would not pay additional 300 million euro. www.mercatorpark.com (German)

PANORAMA started

The PANORAMA project (Personalized Application of Routing, Communication, and GIS- Management Systems in the Alps) under contract of the AlpS GmbH has been started. It is the target of PANORAMA to evaluate the potential of the three main technologies localisation, communication, GIS- Management systems for mobile use in the Alps, to define future applications, to realise a function sample to approve basis functions and to show possible interplay between the various technologies and applications.

Pro ^ Building

03.2004

The research project Sicheres Gebäude (Pro ^ Building) has started lead by Gegenbauer Sicherheitsdienste GmbH. The Berlin Activity is the first attempt to create a scientifically based test- and information basis for comprehensive solutions regarding safety and security within buildings. It is open to the public and is intended to be a permanent instrument for investors and for the planning of modern buildings.
Telematica contributes with examinations of locating people in buildings. A technology analysis will be accomplished as well as the evaluation of advantages and disadvantages of individual systems regarding their use in buildings. Based on research in one or more test buildings an optimized system combination will be proposed.

Omnibus Appropriations Bill

01.2004

President Bush signed the Omnibus Appropriations Bill into law. The bill contained $22.5M for continuation of the US Loran modernization program.
